- Be Polite--- Be nice and respectful to everyone! This is expected of everyone else, and you are no exception. If someone is being rude, or upsetting you in some way please alert the staff. This applies to all ooc boards, the c-box, and pm’s. We do not want potential members to see people fighting. We want this board to be active, friendly, and inviting. The staff can and will ban anyone caught harassing or attacking others. You can be mean, and fight all you want inside the character boards only.
- Rating--- Please keep all post to a PG-13 - R max. Violence is a major part and there will be a great deal of it in this RP. Fighting and death will be a constant element, so if this bothers you please turn around now. Sexual threads are going to be limited. Your characters are human (human-ish), they have hormones, but like civilized people they will deal with this behind closed doors. You can give a sneak peak, but the main event needs to ‘fade to black’.
- Going away--- We all have lives, and real life drama going on. The staff understands, so if you need to take a few days off to deal with it, feel free, just please, please, please let us know. We will hold your characters, and claims for a certain amount of time. Also, if you are going to leave the site for good, please let someone know. That way we can move on, and let someone else have your place.
- Activity – You must keep all of your characters active! Activity checks will be done monthly. Post 2 or 3 times a week, keep the plot going, and characters active. If you must limit the amount of characters to keep them more active then please do so. If you need a few days then alert the site via the absence board. Please don’t waste your time, and our time going through the application process if you are not going to post on a regular basis.
- Registering – One character per account. Your account needs to match your characters name. Either… First Middle Last / First Last / Or either Nickname. It needs to be basic, with no ~\|;’s or anything to ‘pretty it up’. Keep it simple, or else the staff will change it for you. You can have as many accounts as you wish, but please make sure you can keep them all active.
- Applications – Please make the title of the application your character's first and last name. If your not finished with it, put a (WIP) in the title. Once you do finish it make sure to bump it so that a staff member knows to check it. Also, you must finish your app within 3 days of starting it or you will be deleted. If you need more than 3 days speak to a staff member about it telling us the reason and you will receive an extension.
[li]Power playing --- DO NOT! God mod. Please, please, please! You get one warning, no more. I will ban you so fast it will make your head spin. You control your character, and only your character. This is a very critical part of role-playing, and is very crucial for this particular type of RP. You throw a punch at a character; you do not hit the character. The other character decides what happens, and how much damage was inflicted. Unless otherwise premeditated. [/li]
[li]Realism --- Your character is not psychic, they do not hear every sound, or see every tale tale sign of danger around them. They are not perfect. They do not know what is going on, they do not have some supreme knowledge of what is going to happen next. Also they do not block every blow, or dodge every kick. If a happy coincidence happens every now and then good for your character. However, they will make mistakes, and get injured. No one wants to play with someone who’s character is a know it all, or just extremely lucky. [/li]
[li]Length--- Do you know how easy it is to write 300 words? Do you know how hard it is to reply to someone who only posts 50 words? Give the other person something to go on, and something to reply to. Imagine yourself in this world, how does your character feel, what do they see, what is going through their mind? Explore your character, give them depth, and give the environment more depth. Your post needs to be at least 300 words, it if is only 297 trust me no one is going to sick any vampires on you. Aim for 300, and if you go over then great. However, on the same note, if you write 2,000 words, then people are going to be intimidated and not want to have to read a mini novel every time they want to post. Use your best judgment, and a dash of common since. By the way, this small paragraph is over half of a required post.165! [/li]
[li]Readability – This is pretty basic. Make sure you have spelled everything correctly, and that you can read and comprehend what you have written. Just going over something once or twice before you post it, and making needed corrections can greatly increase the quality. Do not use chat speak when you are in character. Also if you have something to tell the other people, please do not do it in the character boards. Send a pm, or post a message in the plot boards. Keep it flowing, keep the rhythm going. Also you need to post in 3rd person, if everyone is using the same tense it makes the thread easier to follow. [/li]
The Application
[li]The Process – You must finish your app, and have it approved before you may post anywhere else! That means do not post in ooc boards or in character boards. You may post in the claim boards. Once it is approved your application will be moved from ‘pending’ to the database. You may be asked to make changes to it several times first. This is only to ensure the quality of the site, and that there is a general direction for the site. During this time the topic title needs to look like this –First Last WIP—or some variation. Once you are finished remove the WIP, so the staff knows that it is complete. You have three days to complete your application, after that it will be removed, and your account will be deleted. [/li]
[li]Play-bys – Must be an actor, musician, or someone who is easily recognized. No internet people, no anime, no deceased. The staff may ask you to change your play-by. Check and make sure someone else hasn’t already claimed ‘them’ before you include them in your application. [/li]
